Review of Treasure Island

Author: Robert Louis Stevenson

Publisher: Cassell & Company

My Review:

Treasure Island is a classic adventure novel written by Robert Louis Stevenson. It tells the exciting story of a young boy named Jim Hawkins and his dangerous journey in search of buried pirate treasure.

The story begins when Jim finds a treasure map in a pirate’s chest at the inn where he lives. He joins a voyage to find the treasure, sailing on the ship Hispaniola. Along the way, Jim discovers that some of the crew members are actually pirates planning a mutiny. One of the most memorable characters is Long John Silver, a clever and charming pirate who is both friendly and dangerous. Jim must use his courage and intelligence to survive and protect his friends.

One of the strengths of Treasure Island is its exciting plot. The novel is full of action, suspense, and surprises, which keeps the reader interested from beginning to end. Stevenson’s descriptions of the sea, the island, and pirate life make the story feel vivid and realistic. The characters are well developed, especially Long John Silver, who is complex and unpredictable.

However, the language can feel old-fashioned at times, which may make it challenging for some readers. Despite this, the story itself is easy to follow and very engaging.

Overall, Treasure Island is a thrilling adventure that explores themes of bravery, loyalty, and greed. It is a timeless story that has influenced many pirate tales and is well worth reading, especially for fans of adventure stories.

My Comment on this Book:

I enjoyed reading Treasure Island because it is full of adventure and excitement. The story kept me interested, especially the parts about the treasure hunt and the pirates. Long John Silver was my favorite character because he was clever and surprising, and I never knew what he would do next. I also liked how Jim Hawkins became braver as the story went on. Overall, Treasure Island was a fun and interesting book, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys adventure stories.
